NO HANDS® Massage:

What is NO HANDS Massage? from Gerry Pyves on Vimeo

NO HANDS Massage is deeply releasing, rejuvenating and nourishing.

It is a dynamic form of Massage that is sweeping across the world as one of the most powerful new therapeutic massage treatments available.  It was conceived and developed by UK therapist Gerry Pyves after 30 years clinical testing.

This massage is so powerful that you will probably feel the benefits long after the session has finished.  Most people say that it is both deeper and more relaxing than conventional Massage.  For this reason it has been dubbed " The Gentle Giant" of Massage.  Words and pictures cannot do justice to the power of this "New Massage" - you can only understand it by feeling it for yourself.

NO HANDS Massage is not the technique but the approach of powerful touch.

Sports Massage and Treatments:

Sports Massage is the most effective therapy for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculo-skeletal system. Regular treatments help prevent injuries, which might otherwise be caused by overuse. A constant build up of tension in the muscles from regular activity may lead to stresses on joints, ligaments, tendons, as well as the muscles themselves.

These muscle imbalances may develop and often go undiagnosed until they are serious enough to cause the athlete discomfort or impede performance. The skilled massage therapist will be able to detect variations in the soft tissues and by using the correct techniques, help the person maintain a much healthier physical state.

It may therefore be reasonably claimed that one of the greatest benefits of sports massage is in helping prevent injury.

Deep Tissue Massage:

A massage technique that focuses on more specific areas and the deeper layers of muscle tissue.  Deep Tissue Massage helps to releases chronic muscle tension through slow strokes and more deep pressure or friction.  It also breaks up and eliminates scar tissue.  It may cause some soreness during, right after or 2/3 days after the massage however, you should feel better than ever afterwards.

Lomi Lomi (Hawaiian) Massage:

The word 'Lomi Lomi' simply means 'Loving Hand' that is a unique healing massage derived from the master healers of Hawaii.  Lomi Lomi Massage is one of the oldest and most powerful forms of healing also one of the most profound forms of massage.

It works gently yet deeply into the muscles with total energy using long continuous, flowing strokes, rhythmic motion, totally nurturing the body and relaxes the entire being.  Whilst technique is an important part of the massage and associated healing, much of the work is done by love, with the focus of the practitioner on the client being deep and complete, using loving hands and a loving heart.  It has often described as 'feeling like gentle waves moving over the body'.

Another feature of this massage is that different area of the body may be massaged at the same time.  This assists the recipient in totally relaxing as it is impossible, or extremely difficult for the brain to focus on the two different areas at once. By not working on areas in isolation a deep sense of balance and harmony is achieved.

It is also described as a "dance of massage," and is as purely wonderful to give as to receive.

Tui na (Chinese) Massage:

Tui na is a form of Chinese manipulative hands-on therapy that used Chinese taoist and martial art principles to bring the body to balance.

The practitioner may brush, knead, roll/press and rub the areas between each of the joints to open the body's defensive qi (chi) and get the energy moving in the meridians as well as the muscles. The practitioner can then use range of motion, traction, massage, with the stimulation of acupressure points; this is claimed to treat both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, as well as many non-musculoskeletal, internal conditions.

Thai Yoga Massage:

Thai Massage was brought from India to Thailand along with Buddhism around 2500 years ago and, is a unique and powerful healing art that has been an integral part of traditional Thai medicine.

Thai Massage works on an energy line system (the Ten Sen) through which the body's natural life force flows and releases blocked energy and frees the body's own natural healing potential, thus restoring balance, health and harmony.  Thai Massage is related to Tui Na (Chinese Massage) and Ayurvedic (Indian) and Shiatsu (Japanese).

The therapist uses her thumbs, palms, elbows, knees and feet to apply a combination of acupressure, gentle rocking and twisting, joint and spine mobilizations and assisted yoga stretches. The therapist use body-weight instead of strength and a steady and meditative rhythm.

Thai Yoga Massage is done on a firm futon or mat on the floor with the recipient dressed in light clothes.

Aromatherapy:

Aromatherapy is a specialized complimentary medicine system,  which uses naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants, flowers, fruits, leafs and seeds to balance and harmonise the body at all levels ¨physical, emotional and spiritual.

The idea is based on the positive response of our bodies when exposed to some kinds of smells, or when treated with Aromatherapy essential oils. When the body is massaged with specially prepared Aromatherapy massage oils, our breath takes about 15% of the air to the top of the nose, where olfactory receptors transport odours straight to the brain, particularly the limbic system where deals with memory, emotions and mechanical functions. This process stimulates the release of beneficial chemical within the body responsible for healing any bodily imbalance.

Additionally, when directly absorbed into the bloodstream through skin layers and transported around the whole body, these essential oils also improve the overall health, beauty and hygiene.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage:

Lymphatic Drainage Massage stimulates the lymphatic vessels that carry substances vital to the defence of the body by gentle rhythmic pumping techniques to move the skin in the direction of the lymph flow.

Lymphatic Drainage clears blockages, eliminates metabolic wastes and toxins from the body, transports nutrients to cells and increases metabolic efficiency, reduction of oedema, excess fluid, cellulite and assisting weight reduction.  It also has a calming effect on the nervous system and helps relieve stress, anxiety, tension and pain as well as an improving effect on skin conditions such as acne, rosacea and old/new scar tissue.

Pregnancy Massage:

Massage increases blood circulation and more oxygen and nutrients become available to the body tissues and helps eliminate metabolic waste through the lymphatic and circulatory systems, which combats fatigue, increases vitality, helps the mother feel more energetic and in result, better nourishment available for the baby.

It improves problems during the pregnancy such as muscular stiffness, calf cramps, swelling of hands/feet, insomnia and mood swings.

Fumie can provide Remedial Massage for neck/shoulder, lower back pain and/or sciatic pain during Pregnancy.

Hot & Cold Stone Massage:stone_3

The temperatures from hot & cold stones are able to penetrate the body up to a depth of 4cm and using this contrast of the temperature stimulates the blood vessels to dilate in the tissues, perfusing them with more oxygen, fresh blood & nutrients, which are essential for the healing process.  The hot stone massage encourages increased drainage from the tissues of the waste products of metabolism, and reducing the toxic load on the tissue.  The cold stone stimulates the nervous system and the massage helps reducing inflammation, refresh, invigorate and de-congest also create a cleansing effect in the body when use with the hot stones.

On-Site Chair Massage:

On-site chair massage helps to alleviate many of the symptoms associated with stress.  Some of the most common symptoms include headaches and low energy levels.  Tight neck and shoulder muscles restrict the flow of blood to the brain, resulting in poor oxygen supply, which in turn leads to decreased alertness and productivity.

Massage encourages blood flow to all areas of the body, helping to ease headaches and leave the feeling more alert and focused.  Improved circulation means more efficient elimination of toxins and waste products in the blood, thereby helping to maintain a healthy
immune system.

Indian Head Massage:

The client remaining seated in an upright position and this treatment involves the upper back, shoulders, upper arms, neck, face and scalp.  This massage brings immediate relief from the tensed muscle or fibrous nodules especially on the neck and shoulder region also stress related problems such as anxiety, headaches and eyestrain .  It improves the blood flow, lymphatic systems and regains the flexibility and mobility as well as relaxes whole body.

Reflexology:

reflexology_chartReflexology is most commonly performed on the feet also hands, face and ears by stimulating points in order to encourage a beneficial effect on some other parts of the body also to try to improve general health.  This is based on the principle of Zone Therapy, which is divided into a number of reflex zones corresponding to all zones of the energy of the boy.  Applying pressure in the form of massage to the reflex area of person's foot will stimulate the corresponding part of the body and assist the self-healing process.  Reflexology therapeutically reduces stress and tension throughout the whole body.

Bowen Technique:

The technique was first developed in Australia by Thomas Bowen (1916 to 1982). Following his interest and studies in the human muscular structure, he intuitively began working with this gentle technique discovering that certain moves on the body helped recovery from many conditions.

A treatment consists of a series of gentle rolling moves with frequent pauses between moves giving the body time to benefit from each set. Practitioners treat the body as a whole or can target a specific problem, as they are able to pinpoint stress build-up in muscle groups and then release it. The Bowen Technique both balances and stimulates – the restorative process beginning once the body is relaxed.

It should be noted that receiving other manipulative therapies immediately following a Bowen session can undermine the effectiveness of the Bowen work. It is better to wait a week before starting any other treatments.

Bowen Technique demonstrates its benefit for people of all ages, including newborn and infant children. Although it is a tool for treating ailments and injuries, many healthy people come along to enjoy treatments to maintain balance and their sense of well-being.

Sufferers of sports injuries and accidents have found the Bowen Technique very helpful as a remedial therapy during their recovery. It may improve rehabilitation time regardless of when the injury was sustained.

Bowen Technique would be recommended 3-6 sessions with 5-7 days interval for chronic conditions. It might take longer to see the improvement in persistent symptoms in general, however you might feel the benefit from only one/a few session(s).
